The Golden Corral buffet is built around six stations: the hot bar, the salad bar, the soup and bread station, the carving and grill station, the dessert bar with the Chocolate Wonderfall, and a beverage station. Breakfast runs a separate set of stations on weekend mornings. Which stations are open is what separates a $12 lunch ticket from an $18 dinner ticket.

Dinner menu
Dinner starts at 4:00 PM. Everything from lunch stays on the bar and three things get added: the carving station, the cooked-to-order sirloin, and an expanded seafood and premium entree rotation. That is the whole reason for the price difference.

If the sirloin is the reason you are going, arrive between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. That is when the grill is fully staffed at most locations. Late in the evening the cooked-to-order line often closes before the rest of the buffet.

The dessert bar runs at every meal and is one of the largest in the buffet category.

The core stations are fixed year-round. What rotates is the hot entree line, which changes daily at most locations, and the seasonal features. Expect a holiday menu around Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, a seafood-weighted rotation during Lent, and regional entrees that differ noticeably between the South, the Midwest and the coasts.
